On August 16th and September 5th

On August 16th Tomoko led Nishiki and Teramachi walking tour. The tour member walked along Nishiki market, visited Nishiki tenmangu shrine, walking along Teramachi street. We drop in at Yata temple, where so-called Okuri Bell event took place. That was the last day of OBON period in Buddhism. The souls which came home during the period go back to the heaven on the last day of the period. This temple is the only temple which has the sending bell for them.

We enjoyed Japanese tea and sweets at Ippodo tea shop, and then visited Horino memorial museum to see the typical Kyoto house which used to be a sake brewery.

On September 5th, Tomoko led the tour of Nishijin and Yuzen tour. We visited Nishijin factory Orinasu kan, and visited Kyo-yuzen factory. where the artisan painted a little card for us. We visited Nishijin texile center to see Kimono show and then I helped them attend Yuzen dye class.
