On August 12th

Noriko showed a married couple around Kyoto. The husband was knowledgeable about Kyoto very much and one of their main purposes of visiting Kyoto was to see NIshijin textile craftsman working.

As first we went to Kinkakuji Temple and then went to Daisenin temple and Kotoin temple in Daitokuji Temple compound. They enjoyed all the beauties of the gardens.

We had lunch of buckwheat near Daitokuji Temple.

Next we went to NIshijin Textile Center. There were several craftsmen in the center. We saw how to make threads from silkworm cocoons and how to weave Nishijin textile. The husband was especially interested in how to repair scratches on textiles. He asked a lot of questions to the craftsman.

As they would like to visit quieter place, we went to Shorenin temple. We were lucky because there was a kind priest in the main hall and the guests could talk with him a little.

After that we went to Fukujuen, for tea ceremony. They enjoyed it very much.

Then we walked around Gion Hanamikoji area. It was evening so gradually the lanterns were lightened up. The town became very beautiful.

I’m glad that they liked the tour very much.
